Front Back
Head
Hemisphere on the proximal end, faces medially
Anatomical Neck
Groove that encircles the articular surface of the head
Surgical Neck
Short segment inferior to the head
Lesser Tubercle
Small blunt eminence anterolateral to the head on proximal shaft
Great Tubercle
Larger and more posterior
Intertubecular Sulcus
Extends longitudinally down the proximal shaft, begins between tubercles
Crest of the Greater Tubercle
Forms the lateral lip of the intertubercular groove
Crest of the Lesser Tubercle
Crest of the Lesser Tubercle
Shaft
Triangle, ranging from more cyndrilical proximally to anterposteriorly compressed
Deltoid Tuberosity
Lateral surface of the shaft. Deltoid muscle attachment.
Radial Sulcus
Posterior surface of the shaft. Radial nerve runs along this.
Nutrient Foramen
Anteromedially and exits the shaft from distal to proximal.
Olecranon Fossa
Largest of three hollows on the distal humeurs. Posteriorly places
Septal Aperture
Perforation of a fossa forming a foramen. Non-pathological.
Coronoid Fossa
Larger, medially placed hollow on the anterior surface of the distal humerus.
Radial Fossa
Smaller, laterally placed hollow on the anterior surface of the distal humerus
Capitulum
Rounded eminence that forms the lateral portion of the distal humeral surface.
Trochlea
Notch or spool shaped medial portion of the distal humeral surface.
Lateral epicondyle
Small, nonarticular lateral bulge of bone superolateral to the capitulum
Medial Epicondyle
Nonarticular, medial projection of bone spuermedial to the trochlea. More prominent.
Medial SupraCondylar Crest
Superior to the medial epicondyle and forms the sharp medial border
Lateral Supercondylar crest
Superior to the lateral epicondyle and forms the sharp lateral border to the distal humerus.
